Are you a researcher, or have equivalent industrial experience with proven abilities to carry out research in woven textile materials and weaving technologies? Are you able to use your expertise to support or complement our existing strengths in 2D and 3D weaving of solid, hollow and shaped components using the latest weaving technology: Mageba multishuttle weaving machine with Staubli Unival 100 jacquard harness? Are you able to use your expertise to support advancing weaving technologies through mechanical / motor knoledge of associated kit and inbuillt to specialised commercial software?

The School of Design is a highly ranked department with a vibrant research culture and a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. You will join an experienced, innovative and diverse team and will be actively involved in research, producing high quality publications and contributing to the School’s Research Excellence Framework (REF).

As a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, or with equivalent industrial experience in 2D and 3D wovens, and weaving technologies, you will be working on AHRC-funded Future Fashion Factory projects “”2D-to-3D wovens for fashion applications” and “robotic mechanical/motor add-ons to weaving technologies for weaving shaped apparel parts”, using commercial and specialised software. The projects have national and international industrial partners, commercial confidentiality will be crucial.

You will have a PhD, or equivalent industrial experience in woven textiles and/or weaving technologies, and experience in manufacturing of woven textiles with sound knowledge of jacquard weaving machines, and are developing a record of research / knowledge commensurate with the level of the post and with a clear indication of the ability to achieve internationally recognised standards of excellence.
